Barry Sankey Celebrates 32 Years in Sports Journalism
Barry Sankey covers local sporting events for Phoenixville Newspapers
PHOENIXVILLE, PA, May 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barry Sankey, Sports Reporter for Phoenixville Newspapers, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in sports journalism and writing.
A veteran journalist, Mr. Sankey has developed a specialization in sports writing. Over the course of his 32-year career, he mastered his craft at such outfits as The Mercury, Spring-Ford Reporter, and Philadelphia Bulletin. He now brings his talents to Phoenixville Newspapers, which publishes weekly editions to Chester and Montgomery counties. As a sports reporter, Mr. Sankey covers local and scholastic sports, as well as collegiate and professional sports involving local residents. He also maintains a blog.
Having devoted most of his time to covering local sporting events, Mr. Sankey especially enjoys turning the spotlight on student athletes; to him, there is no joy quite like watching some of these young people reach the pros. He has been honored with the Keystone Press Award for journalism multiple times.
Mr. Sankey graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. As a student, he served as the sports editor and managing editor of the university paper, The Temple News. A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, he imbues his reports with a native's understanding of local issues — he grew up in Limerick and currently resides in Trappe.
