UPLAND, CA, September 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alfred E. Gernon, Jr., History Teacher for the Upland Unified School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Currently pursuing his master's degree in tier I administration, Alfred E. Gernon is a recognized professional in the field of education. He now possesses 12 years of experience through the Upland Unified School District, where he draws upon his expertise in history to develop its History Department, teach U.S. History to eighth-grade students and manage the seventh-grade Academic Pentathlon.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Mr. Gernon proudly served the U.S. Army. Over his 20-year military tenure, Mr. Gernon rose to the rank of Captain. He now serves as a department chairman as well as a basketball and volleyball coach. He credits his success to his passion for education, specifically in the subfield of history education as he grew up in Europe and always held a special interest in history.
A graduate of Westfield State College, Mr. Gernon will seek to pursue a Ph.D. in either history or the advocacy of student rights. He is a 2005-2006 inductee of Who's Who Among America's Teachers and serves as an advisor for the Kiwanis Builders Club.
